Welcome to Alamo Sport Shooter's Club (ASSC)

The ASSC, an independent club, started in 1982 shooting "practical pistol" but the guns don't look too "practical" any more.  The years go by and things change. The club is more than just a handgun club; we have a full set of Sportsman's Team Challenge targets set up full time at Cedar Ridge Range in Bulverde, Texas.

ASSC Club matches are the
1st Sunday of every month
at the Cedar Ridge Range

The first Sunday in February will be our next match.

The next year special membership rates will be $10.00 down from the past at $30.00

Jamie & Linda

Our handgun shoots use mostly steel with some paper on the field courses. We have shooters at every level of development.  A few of our guys can keep up near the best.

I hope to get new members to shoot and that's why this page is up.  I shoot because I love it, and if you need help to get started or try a new type of shooting drop me a line at ASSC@texas.net

Our handgun matches have a Steel Challenge type of setup and we are a Steel Challenge Club. Most of our targets are steel but one stage always has a mix of targets.

Alamo Sport Shooting Club {A.S.S.C.} recognizes Autos and Revolvers as separate classes. We encourage shooters to compete with both types of firearms in the matches. Classes C though AA so every shooter will compete with shooters of his own ability.

The handgun club is not affiliated with any national governing body, and is not restricted by pick rules.

We are not limited to any particular course of fire.  Some of our shooters go for the Tactical approach, but most do it for the "Rush" you get in competition.  We always put an emphasis on "Action" style shooting.  I make an effort in the course layout so that a high capacity gun dos not have such a big advantage, I do this by not requiring more than 8 targets to be shot before the shooter moves. Our monthly newsletter "On the Line" gives a set up outline for the next match. We shoot at Cedar Ridge Range in Bulverde, Texas

We welcome new shooters, our goal is to be helpful, and provide a challenge at every level of development.  If you would like more information about sport shooting Email us

Requirements to shoot are a large caliber handgun, 35 cal. or higher, suitable holster, Eye & Ear protection; ammunition; and a willingness to follow rules and demonstrate responsibility.  Each match uses at least 70 rounds some times over 100 rounds.  All new or unclassified shooters must shoot a classification course to establish their skill level before they enter the main match.

Non-member fees are $15.00 for the first gun and the one time $10.00 classification fee. Membership is $25.00  Sign up starts at 9:30 am and hammer down at 10AM. Each shooter is expected to help with the shoot in some way. At the very least, all shooters are expected to reset, paint or otherwise paste the holes in the targets.

We shoot at 'CEDAR RIDGE RANGE' in Bulverde, Texas.  The range is located just North of San Antonio on FM 1863, 5.5 miles East of U.S. 281 North on F.M. 1863 (F.M. 1863 is 10 miles north of San Antonio).  The phone number of the range is 830-980-4424.  It is open Wednesday - Friday from noon till dusk; Saturday & Sunday the range opens at 9:30 am. Alpha Mike encourages you to support all USPSA clubs in the area. With a USPSA/IPSC match virtually every weekend, we are indeed fortunate. And, of course, Alpha Mike appreciates support from members of other area clubs.
